I sat down next to the food and yawned. I hadn't gotten very much sleep.

I sat down, too. I couldn't help but notice Edmund sitting across the way, looking half asleep. His hair was perfectly messed up and his tiredness had a certain attractiveness to it. He looked up and I quickly looked away.

I pulled at the grass near my feet while we waited for Caspian and Peter to finish talking.

They were taking forever.
"PETER!" I shouted. He turned around.
"What?" he asked slowly.
"Breakfast...?" I prompted.
"Any time this year would be grand," Ed muttered sleepily.

"I'm growing old." I added.

I rubbed my eyes and tied my hair up. I went back into the tent and grabbed my blanket and wrapped it around me, then went back out and sat down.

I pulled the blanket tighter around my shoulders.

"Hey Cam, do animals talk underwater?" I asked. I'd always wanted to know the answer never having actually talked to anything underwater before.

"Some do, others don't. But, being a mermaid, I can communicate with both," I explained.

"That's pretty sweet." I said doodling with a stick in the dirt.

"Yeah, some of them you don't want to communicate with though. I think my favorite parts of being a mermaid are getting to be a human when I'm dry and a mermaid when I'm wet, exploring under the water, and the tail...definitely the tail!" I realized that sounded kind of weird after I said it, but it's true! I love the shineyness of my tail even though sometimes it's hard to maintain and keep shiney, I still love it!

"Does it feel like a fish?" I asked. This was something I'd always wondered.

"Yeah, pretty much. I guess that's the easiest way to describe it."

"I always liked fish." I commented offhandedly.
