I didn't know how long I'd been asleep when I felt the nightmare start. It was different than normal nightmares; more vivid and sharp. It wasn't actually scary for a decent while, but I had that feeling in the pit of my stomach that it couldn't be good.
I saw a large grassy space. Someone was lying on it, alone. The dream zoomed in and I recognized the person as Peter.

I tried to look away, anticipating something terrible, but my mind's eye wouldn't let me. I watched in awed horror as huge vulture-like creatures swooped down and literally began to peck my brother apart. Tears started running down my cheeks and I let out a little scream as the animals moved away, allowing me to see his mangled features.

He opened his eyes, hearing a little squeak come from Lucy. He looked over and she seemed to be dreaming, fitfully. He scooted over near her and shoke her arm gently, trying to wake her.

I awoke to his touch with a start, tears running down my face. I avoided his gaze and couldn't speak; I didn't trust my own voice.

"Come here," he said quietly, wrapping his big, strong arms around her. "It was just a nightmare."

I buried deeper into his arms. "They had Peter," I sobbed "and these birds were...were..." I couldn't finish.

"Shhh..."he mumbled into her hair as he held her tighter.

I buried my face in his chest. "I'm sorry," I mumbled into him. I didn't wanna seem like a complete baby.

"Don't be sorry. You didn't do anything," he said with a small smile.

I sniffed a little and snuggled in even closer. It reminded me of something Peter would do...hugging me like this...and he was so warm...I could feel myself falling asleep.

He gently stroked her hair, staring at the wall opposite of them, zoning out.

Soon I was completely asleep.

He looked down at her as he felt her breathing slow. He sighed and rested his chin on the top of her head. He couldn't help but already feel extremely protective of her.

For the first time since my arrival here, my dreams were calm and pleasant. And they may or may not have involved the boy whose arms I was snuggled up in.

He closed his eyes and he began to drift off, feeling warm in his cell for the first time.
