They left their stables and the city of Cair Paravel, not knowing when (or some of them, if) they would return.

"First stop, Aslan's Camp," he announced.

I took one last look at the palace as we headed out of the city.
After hours of travelling we finally reached Aslan's Camp and stopped there to rest.

I dropped down off my horse and looked around at the camp. Thinking about the last time we had been there.

He took out food amenities, but he personally wasn't hungry. It was getting dark, so he started the campfire. As it flickered, he imagined that all was as it was last time they had been here.

I sat down by the fire, wrapping my blanket around me and staring into the fire. I was trying to sort through my thoughts and everything that had happened that day because I knew I would never fall asleep if I didn't.

The smoke was to wait until dark before penatrating the camp, so it lay in waiting a mile or so to the north. It could sense the negative energy even from that distance, and began calculating which victim was currently the most vulnerable.

The silence that enveloped the camp was almost suffocating on its own. It was starting drive me crazy. I got up and walked a little outside camp where I had a really good view of the emerging stars.

I set my stuff down in the tent that the girls had stayed in last time and grabbed a blanket. I wrapped it around myself, grabbed one of the books, and took a seat next to Ed by the fire.

I leaned up agaisnt a tree and slid to the ground. I rested my head in my hands and closed my eyes. The events of the day began to rush at me like bullets. I saw flashes of Lucy before she had been kidnapped, Peter's face when he'd found out that I had heard his secret, the pictures from the books, and the image of Caspian in the library, looking almost defeated. I could feel myself start to cry as I began to shake with a feeling that I couldn't exactly place. I felt like I just wanted to stand on the edge of a cliff and scream.

The smoke sensed a large concentration of the bad energy coming nearer. It calculated and "decided" that this victim was as good as any. It read into her from a distance. If something that cruel and evil was capable of joy, it probably would've started doing a jig. It appeared that this specimen was doing a pretty good job of deteriorating mentally on her own. Just a minimum effort of the smoke would be required and she would succumb. At least, that was its plan.

I wrapped my arms around my legs. I wanted to be home so badly. I wanted to curl up in my own bed again and not have to worry about anything except homework and the latest teenage scandal.

And at that moment, it knew her potentially traitorous thought provided a perfect place to start. It swooped in immediately, blocking the stars but otherwise physically imperceptible.

I fidgeted with my locket and looked up from the book and into the flames of the fire, growing even more tired than earlier.

It felt like something slammed into me, knocking the breath out of me. The only problem was, I couldn't seem to regain my breath. I looked around but I couldn't see anything, I was surrounded in blackness. I wanted to scream but whenever I opened my mouth I felt like I was swallowing poison.

It fed on her terror and in seconds, it began to plant the psychological decoys.
"You know you're worthless. He doesn't care about you anymore and you know it. He's High King. What are you? A queen because of your friends' bravery. Aslan created the perfect woman for him, and that's what they are. Perfect. You'll never be perfect; you don't deserve him. He was better of with her." it hissed, using the discomfort of the girl herself to bring the voice to a new level of ruthlessness.
