I looked around the circle. It was weird without Lucy here and I wasn't really sure where Lil had wandered off to but figured she was somewhere around here. I looked back down and continued reading the book which was actually quite interesting, but I started feeling my eyelids getting heavier and I was yawning more frequently.

I knew the voice wasn't my own but it was saying the same things that I had been saying to myself all day. I couldn't move and maybe I didn't want to. I couldn't help but listen to the voice because it was all true. I sat still, tears streaking down my face becaue I was so terrified.

"Your friend will be dead before you get to her. Your leader was right; there is no hope. And then you'll have no one. No one. No one." it echoed harshly in the darkness. "She was better off without you, too. She loved him and cared for him until he could fulfill his destiny. His destiny was greatness; beginning another world with the perfect girl. Because of you, he will never be as great as he could have been. He has been ruined because of you. But follow me and you can see a bit of greatness for yourself. A...different kind of greatness."

I began to shake from being so scared. I knew part of me wanted to follow but the more dominant part was too terrified. I began to gasp for air, shaking my head and struggling to get rid of the voice. Why did it have to keep torturing me when I already knew everythign it was saying was true?

"Some men are born great, and some have greatness thrust upon them. But those who are seen as unfit for greatness need to find it themselves. He was born great. You need to find greatness yourself because it will never come to you. You, always second-best, last, least-loved. Follow and find it yourself, or never find it at all."

My brain felt like it was being warped and I felt like my head was going to split open. I couldn't tell what was going on anymore because I couldn't think, I could only hear the voice. And what it said was completely true. I was second-best and it killed me. I fell onto my side, unable to keep myself propped upright any longer. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on breathing but I couldn't get any thought through.

"Come!" it hissed. It had obviously broken her down, but she wouldnt follow. They hadn't counted on this.

I was struggling with myself. Something in me was pulling me, it wanted to go. But, I couldn't. Something that I kept brining back made me want to stay. I couldn't figure out what it was exactly since I didn't have any control over my mind. I was starting to crumble from the pressure and I couldn't stand it any longer. I screamed. I wasn't sure if any sound actually came out because I blacked out almost immediatly.

My head shot up. "Did anyone else hear that?" I asked.

~ED~
"Stay here. Caspian, make sure she's safe. Call to me if anything happens." Ed stood and looked at Caspian fiercely. Caspian nodded, slightly surprised by Ed's sudden take-charge attitude. With a long glance exchanged between the two of them, Ed charged off into the woods.
~CASPIAN~
He stood and walked over so he was standing between Cam and the woods, just so that Ed's instructions were being followed. Then he turned. "How are you holding up?" he asked wearily, but with real concern.

I peered around Caspian to see where Ed was going, then looked up at him. "About as well as everybody else," I told him.

~CASPIAN~
He sighed and sat down heavily, cross-legged on the ground. It had all gotten so complicated.
~ED~
He headed in the direction of the sound, determined to assert himself. Peter was...well...incapacitated for the moment. Since Peter was usually in charge, he was happy that Caspian had kinda gotten over his timidness around Peter. Still, part of him wished he illicited that much respect in the older man. He decided that he wouldn't let Caspian be the only one to step up. This train of thought was cut off, though, as he discovered a clearing. His heart pounded. "Lucy?" he called out hopefully.
~PETER~
Physically, he was feeling rather useless. He was so shaken by the truth of the voice he had heard that he figured if he let the others think he was insane, everything would be better off. At least he wouldn't need to face the embarrassment of acknowledging his failures.

"But I believe she'll be alright," I added. "She's strong...probably the strongest of us, actually..."

~CASPIAN~
He smiled a little and nodded, staring into the fire. "I hope that's enough. And I hope that we can stay strong, too. I'm worried about everyone." he nodded specifically towards the tent where Peter sat, brooding.

"The smoke really did some damage, didn't it?"
