I held my breath and watched intently as fight progressed, still not able to move.

It was impossible to see where Peter ended and the Count began. They were both fighting with all they had, stabbing randomly at each other. Little moans and sharp intakes of breath were cues that at least a few of the stabs were landing, but it was impossible to tell who was stabbed and who was doing the stabbing. They were both covered in a decent amount of blood, but whose blood it was wasn't discernable. They were moving so fast it was just a frenzied cloud of movement that seemed to last forever.

I stumbled over to the entrance and I gasped at the scene in front of me. The fight was gruesome and frightening and I wanted to close my eyes but I didn't want to lose Peter in the fight.

Finally, Peter found his way to the top of the two of them with both swords. He stuck the Count's sword nearby but just out of reach in the ground and pressed his own sword blade against the neck of the count, making a thin line of blood appear.
"Get up," he spat, standing and forcing the count to do so. "If you value your life, set them right," he gestured towards Ed and Cam "and get out." His voice was clear and commanding again. Ed felt compelled to do a little jig. Peter had won two battles; the bloody one everyone witnessed but also the battle within himself.
The count, flustered, more than a little afraid, and in pain flicked his hand again and Ed and Cam regained motion. Then, he cautiously backed away from Peter, who followed him, keeping him at swordpoint until they reached the woods and the count broke into a run. There, peter half collapsed and started literally crawling back towards the tent. Adrenaline had allowed him to ignore his injuries, but a deep puncture on his thigh and a long slash across his back had been added to his cheek injury and pure exhaustion.

I gasped when I saw Peter's wounds. I had the urge for a moment to run up to him, fall to my knees, and kiss him. I blinked back a few tears as the words that had been pounded into my head before I fainted, came back. I turned and ducked back into the tent, going back to sit by Caspian and wait for him to wake.

Barely able to stand, Peter somehow righted himself in order to walk into the tent with dignity. He looked terrible by any normal sense of the word, but the kingly gleam was back in his eyes and amidst the wounds it became apparent why he was high king peter, the magnificent. He slumped down onto the ground, ignoring Lil completely. He was still breathing a little harder than usual, but it was returning to normal. Ed jogged over to him and immediately helped him take of his shirt, which was slashed up the back, so that they could get to his deepest wound. He winced in pain, but didn't make a sound as Ed inspected his bloody back.
"What happened?" Ed asked, partly curious and partly to distract Peter from what he was doing.

I stared at the ground. The voice had been right, he wouldn't even look at me.

"He...well...he came in and tried to take Lil and me." he said, wincing again as Ed fussed.

I pulled the blanket off of the nearest hammock, wrapping it around myself so that I would stop shaking as I thought about the fight and the voice.

"So you fought him yourself?" Ed asked, half in admiration and half in admonishment.
"Well I didn't expect him to be that good!" he protested.
Ed rolled his eyes and tore a clean piece of Peter's shirt off. He then proceeded to wrap it around Peter's torso to protect the wound. He shivered a little as it made contact.

Ed then looked at the puncture on Peter's thigh. He rolled up Peter's pants and bandaged it as well. "I don't know what to do about the one on your face, honestly..." he told him.
Peter grinned. "It's a battle scar. I personally feel I look more...Devil-may-care this way." He turned to Ed, showing off his gashed cheek. Ed just rolled his eyes, too happy that Peter was mentally back even to make a smartass comment.
"So what happened to Caspian?" Ed inquired, changing the subject.
Peter shrugged. "Dunno. He was just like that when I woke up."

I stood up and walked out, pulling the blanket tighter around me. I didn't want to be ignored anymore. I'd rather just not be there.

Ed wandered over to Caspian, giving him a gentle shake. To everyone's surprise, he woke.
"What happened?" he asked nervously, looking at Ed since he was the only one close enough for him to focus on with his headache.

I sat down next to the left over, burnt up logs from the fire. I picked up a stick and began to poke at them.
